REMORA is proud to announce a clustering initiative with LORELEI-X, a fellow Horizon Europe project funded under the Widening Participation and Spreading Excellence calls. The two projects share a common ambition: to elevate the marine and maritime research and innovation capacities of institutions across Europe, with a particular focus on regions and institutions that are underrepresented in the European Research Area.

Two complementary projects, one shared vision
REMORA focuses on closing the innovation gap in marine sciences for research centres in Europe’s outermost regions (La Réunion, Madeira, and the Azores). Through strategic collaboration with its advanced partners – Ruizia, DTU – Technical University of Denmark, and ERINN Innovation – REMORA supports CITEB, OKEANOS, and OOM in becoming competitive Horizon Europe institutions.
LORELEI-X, coordinated by CMMI – Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute, focuses on “bridging innovation and excellence in marine robotics”, strengthening the marine innovation ecosystem in Europe around long-endurance robotic technologies for research and rescue applications. Its advanced partners include DTU – Technical University of Denmark and NTNU – Norwegian University of Science and Technology.
What the partnership will deliver
By aligning their strengths and activities, REMORA and LORELEI-X aim to:
- Increase the combined visibility and impact of their work at the European level.
- Identify and develop joint activities, including shared training, co-authored publications, and coordinated dissemination.
- Contribute collectively to shaping the future of marine research and innovation in Europe, particularly around emerging technologies and ocean observation.
This clustering initiative was driven by Gotelenne Piaton (LORELEI-X coordinator) and Evelyne Tarnus (REMORA Impact Manager), whose shared commitment to European research collaboration made this partnership possible.
REMORA and LORELEI-X invite the marine research community to follow updates on this joint initiative.
